Non Medical Transportation (NMT)
Beyond emergencies, GNH Services also provides non- medical transport services for those in need. Wheelchair/mobility transportation for children, the elderly, and everyone in between is a part of the regular services that GNH Services provides to ensure anyone with health concerns can always get where they need to go. Physical challenges should never be a hindrance to travel, so we get patients to and from health appointments, bring them to the care facility of their choice, help them reach their social or community event that they plan to participate in, and more.
Our mobility transport services are done with our specialized mobility vans that provide comfort and ease of loading and unloading for the individual in need of transportation. Whatever support our team can give to those in need, we provide in any way that we can, and our non medical transports give one more way for those with mobility troubles to get where they need to.
Non-Medical Transportation
Eligibility: NMT is often used by seniors, people with disabilities, and others with limited mobility who do not require medical attention during transit. This includes individuals who need help with getting in and out of vehicles but do not need medical equipment or nursing care while traveling.
Types of Services:
- Scheduled Transportation: Clients book NMT services in advance for a specific day and time. This is typically the most common type of service for appointments or regular trips.
- On-Demand Transportation: Some NMT providers offer flexible, on-demand services, allowing individuals to request rides as needed, often with minimal advance notice.
Vehicles and Accessibility: NMT vehicles are often designed to accommodate people with mobility aids like wheelchairs, walkers, or scooters. These vehicles may be equipped with features such as:
- Wheelchair ramps or lifts
- Spacious interiors for mobility aids
- Comfortable seating and safety harnesses
- Accessible doors for easy entry and exit
Drivers: Drivers of NMT vehicles are trained to assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle. While they are not medical professionals, they are trained to provide basic support, ensuring passengers’ safety and comfort during the ride.
Cost: The cost of non-medical transportation varies based on the service provider, distance traveled, and level of assistance required. In some cases, services are covered by insurance, Medicaid, or government programs for eligible individuals. Some nonprofit organizations also provide free or low-cost NMT options to seniors or low-income individuals.
